# How Accurate Is Life360? Get those three things right and Life360 is reliably precise. ## How location accuracy actually works on phones Under open sky, a modern phone's GPS chip is genuinely precise, typically narrowing a location down to a few meters. That's true whether you're using Life360, Find My, Google Maps, or any other app, because they're all reading from the same GPS hardware. The app layer just displays what the phone reports. The problem starts indoors or in dense urban areas. GPS satellites need a clear line of sight to the sky, and walls, roofs, and tall buildings block that signal.
